Beginner's Yoga, Bay Club Greenwich, 12pm


This class is designed to explore the many facets of basic yoga poses, breathing and relaxation techniques. More explanation and direction is offered to deepen your experience of yoga in a calm, relaxed and safe atmosphere. For those who have never done yoga before and those who want to renew their practice. Focus is on building a solid foundation of poses and breath work and gaining self-confidence. Yoga Fundamentals  provides the newer yoga student and, even the  seasoned practitioner looking to refresh, detailed instruction on the proper alignment of base yoga postures to safely build the strength and knowledge to move forward in yoga. In addition to the class focusing on alignment and preparing you for other major asanas included in vinyasa flow class, yoga etiquette and basic yoga breathing technique will be covered.

Mauna Kea Benefit Class, Yoga Tree Stanyan, 2pm

Join Diana Oppenheim and Jessica for a community gathering to benefit the Hawaii Community Bail Fund and Kahea.org. Together, we’ll move through a meditation practice with purposeful vinyasa movement followed by restorative postures. As a sacred site to the native Hawaiians and a prime location for telescopes, Mauna Kea is of huge significance both scientifically and spiritually. We are convening together in solidarity with the protectors of Mauna Kea to keep the land in the the hands of Hawaiians and to maintain its environmental and ecological stability.

As a former resident of Hawai’i, this cause is important to Jessica. As a previous supporter of the construction of the TMT telescope, her perspective shifted hearing first-hand accounts from native Hawaiians and influence from her yoga practice. Diana supports the rights of indigenous peoples and environmental preservation of Mauna Kea, having been an activist for years.

This class is donation-based and open to all levels. Donations will be taken at the door, and will be accepted anytime via Venmo/PayPal at @jseid.

Mellow Flow is slower paced nourishing class including held poses and fluid transitions. Designed to ground, strengthen and settle the body, with awareness on breath and alignment, this class will leave us feeling centered and open. Accessible to beginners and experienced yoga practitioners alike.

Vinyasa Flow (L1-3), Satori Yoga, 12:15

Satori's alignment focused Vinyasa practice is a flowing sequence of asanas (poses) usually built around the classical Surya Namaskar (sun salutation). A strong connection between breath and movement creates a moving meditation to relax the mind while energizing the body. Classes may be faster or slower paced depending on the instructor. Expect music (sometimes upbeat) to inspire movement and personal power. Props may be used for support. Vinyasa Flow builds strength, concentration, confidence and flexibility. Classes are suitable for all levels, but some yoga experience is helpful.
